Dear ones, what would you say if your country became an English Protectorate, and that Protectorate divided your country into two states, one with your religion and another with the religion with which you have had many problems over the last few centuries? What would they say in the UK if a Protectorate of some other world power divided the UK into two states, one Protestant and one Muslim, for example? What would they say in the United States? What would they say in France? And in Germany? And what would they say in Japan? And in China? In Russia? Would everyone agree with the decision taken by the British Protectorate in Palestine in 1947? And what would they say in all these powerful states, if in addition to the division of their own state in two, they were to see day after day the grabbing of further territory by settlers from the other state, who by settling claim that that territory is theirs?
I therefore put myself in the shoes of the Palestinians of today, 2023, and I think that this Israeli attack directed at the civilian population of the Gaza Strip is an abomination. How many Israelis died on October 7th at the hands of Hamas? About 1,200? So why has the Israeli government already killed several thousand Palestinians? What is the Israeli government doing? Are you by any chance doing what the Germans did in Italy at the Fosse Ardeatine, in Rome, during the Second World War? That is, to kill 10 Italians for every German who died during the Via Rasella attack?
Carissimi, cosa direste voi, se il vostro paese divenisse un Protettorato Inglese, e che questo Protettorato dividesse il vostro paese in due stati, uno con la vostra religione ed un altro con la religione con cui avete avuto parecchi problemi negli ultimi secoli? Cosa direbbero nel Regno Unito se un Protettorato di qualche altra potenza mondiale, dividesse il Regno Unito in due stati, uno protestante ed un altro musulmano, per esempio? Cosa direbbero negli Stati Uniti? Cosa direbbero in Francia? E in Germania? E in Giappone che direbbero? E in Cina? In Russia? Sarebbero tutti d’accordo con la decisione presa dal Protettorato Inglese in Palestina nel 1947? E cosa direbbero in tutti questi stati potenti, se oltre alla divisione del proprio stato in due, dovessero vedere giorno dopo giorno l’accaparremento di ulteriore proprio territorio, da parte di coloni dell’altro stato, che insediandosi affermano che quel territorio é il loro?
Mi metto quindi nei panni dei Palestinesi di oggi, 2023, e penso che quest’attacco israeliano diretto alla popolazione civile della Striscia di Gaza é un abominio. Quanti israeliani sono morti il 7 ottobre scorso ad opera di Hamas? Circa 1.200? E allora, come mai il governo israeliano ha già ammazzato diverse migliaia di palestinesi? Cosa sta facendo il governo israeliano? Sta per caso facendo come hanno fatto in Italia i tedeschi alle Fosse Ardeatine, a Roma, durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale? Ossia ammazzare per ogni tedesco morto durante l’attentato di Via Rasella, 10 italiani?
